Susan Ott Rodberg is a National Certified Teacher in Early/Middle Childhood Music/Orchestra. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. Her major instrument was violin, and minored in cello.   After graduation, she began her studies of the Suzuki Method at various Summer Institutes and continued for the next 10 summers. Mrs. Rodberg has extensive experience teaching orchestral strings to people between the ages of 2 and 92.

Her experiences include teaching Jr. High General Music, Band and Orchestra in Marysville, Ohio; teaching Suzuki Violin Method at “Twinklers to Sizzlers...Suzuki Violin,” a private violin studio in Norfolk, VA; teaching the Suzuki Violin Method at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio;  and teaching strings at a private studio that met at Palm Beach Atlantic College, as well as  being an Adjunct Instructor of Strings at the former Palm Beach Junior College in Lake Worth, FL. She is a member of American String Teachers Association, and in 2010 hosted an ASTA sponsored “Play-a-Piece Day” for elementary school-aged string students.

In 1993 she was invited to teach at the former Palm Beach County School of the Arts, which has since divided into two school: Bak Middle School of the Arts, and Alexander W. Dreyfoos High School of the Arts. Her responsibility there was to teach middle and high school orchestra as an Artist-in-Residence. She taught there for 3 years until becoming a 
full-time teacher at U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts.

In 2006, Mrs. Rodberg was named the Youth Orchestra of the Palm Beaches "Music Teacher of the Year.” In January 2007 she became the Conductor of the Youth Orchestra of the Palm Beaches String Orchestra. She assumed the duties of Chamber Music Coordinator in August 2011.  

During 15 years of teaching at U.B. Kinsey, Mrs. Rodberg has nurtured an after-school class of nearly 40 students to its current program of 200 second through fifth graders who elect to take strings during the regular school day, and nearly 200 kindergarten and first grade students who learn to play the violin as part of their Fine Arts Curriculum.  The Orchestra has traveled and performed in Music Festivals in and out of state, and earned top awards for performance every year.  Of the string students who began their music studies at UBK, 100% have earned partial or full scholarships to college to play in their college orchestra.
